Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is poised to achieve a career milestone when his side take on AC Milan at the San Siro on Saturday. The 26-year-old Nigerian international will be aiming to keep three consecutive clean sheets for the first time in his professional career, following shutouts against Genoa and Como in Udinese’s previous two fixtures.
Okoye has not conceded a goal since Jérémie Boga’s 38th-minute strike for Juventus in a 1-0 defeat on 14 March. The run of form has seen him extend his clean sheet streak to 270 minutes across Serie A matches. This is not the first time the former Sparta Rotterdam keeper has registered back-to-back clean sheets for Udinese; he also managed the feat against Monza and Juventus in February 2024.
The Zebras shot-stopper has featured in 23 matches across all competitions this season, establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s defensive setup. His consistency between the posts has been instrumental in Udinese’s recent results, including a hard-fought draw with Inter Milan earlier in the campaign.
Saturday’s fixture against Milan presents both a challenge and an opportunity. The Rossoneri, currently pushing for European qualification, possess one of the league’s most potent attacking units. Okoye’s form, however, suggests he is ready for the test. Maintaining his clean sheet run against such opposition would not only bolster his reputation but also underline Udinese’s resilience in the face of top-tier competition.
Should he succeed, Okoye will set a new personal benchmark while reinforcing his standing as one of Nigeria’s most promising goalkeepers on the European stage.
