Nigerian Army Vows to Defeat Security Threats, Urges State Support

Nigerian Army Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to decisively tackling all security threats facing the country. During an operational visit to Yobe State, the Army chief stressed the critical role of sustained support from citizens and state governments in achieving lasting peace.

General Shaibu was received by Governor Mai Mala Buni upon arrival in the state. The visit, explained Acting Director of Army Public Relations Appolonia Anele, was aimed at boosting troop morale and assessing the security situation in the region.

Acknowledging recent attacks on military formations, the COAS maintained that the Nigerian Army remains resolute and undeterred in fulfilling its constitutional mandate. He revealed that operational strategies are being adjusted to address evolving threats and consolidate gains across various theatres of operation.

The Army chief assured that troops would continue to confront terrorism with determination, noting that the military is constantly refining its approaches to match the changing dynamics of insecurity nationwide. He urged state governments to intensify their support for frontline personnel, emphasizing that collaboration is essential to achieving enduring stability.

General Shaibu commended the government and people of Yobe State for their continued cooperation, describing such support as vital to operational success.

At the Headquarters of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI in Damaturu, the COAS addressed troops, charging them to remain aggressive and relentless in the fight against insurgents. He urged them to honour fallen comrades by sustaining the momentum in securing the nation.

The operational visit underscores the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to adapt to security challenges while reinforcing the importance of state-level collaboration in the broader fight against insurgency and terrorism across the country.
