Bendel Insurance Ends Winless Streak with 1-0 Victory Over Abia Warriors

Bendel Insurance ended their three-game winless streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Abia Warriors in Benin City on Saturday.

Kennedy Boboye’s side dominated the first half but struggled to break down a disciplined Abia Warriors defence. The breakthrough came in the second half when Chinedu Nwosu scored the decisive goal two minutes after the hour mark, securing all three points for the home side.

The result strengthens Bendel Insurance’s bid for a continental qualification spot as the season nears its conclusion. The Benin-based club now sits seventh in the league table with 49 points, keeping their hopes alive for a top-four finish.

Abia Warriors, despite the defeat, retain their fourth-place position on the log. The Umuahia outfit remains in contention for a continental berth, although the loss may narrow their margin for error in the final fixtures.

The NPFL continues to deliver tightly contested matches as teams vie for positions that guarantee participation in next season’s CAF inter-club competitions. With several clubs still in the hunt for continental slots, the race for the top of the table promises to remain intense in the coming weeks.

Bendel Insurance will look to build on this momentum in their next fixture, while Abia Warriors will aim to bounce back and consolidate their standing in the upper echelons of the league.
