US President Donald Trump hosted a McDonald’s delivery driver in the Oval Office to highlight a new tax provision that allows eligible service workers to deduct up to $25,000 in tip income from their federal taxes. This event, held at the White House in Washington, was part of a broader effort to promote the measure ahead of the upcoming tax filing deadline on April 15. The driver, who had been pre-approved for White House access, shared that she had received approximately $11,000 in tax relief under the new rule, although no official documentation was presented during the appearance.

During the event, Trump handed her a $100 tip, reinforcing his administration’s message that the policy is designed to benefit frontline workers. The provision, which was approved as part of a broader tax package in 2025, phases out for higher-income earners. It aims to alleviate the tax burden on service industry employees who depend heavily on tips.

Amid ongoing international tensions that dominate much of the national news cycle, the administration has intensified its public outreach regarding this policy. While the Oval Office setting and the personal interaction garnered attention, the primary focus remains on the tax relief measure and its implications for millions of workers in the service sector.
