New commandant takes over at Kwara NSCDC

Abbas Nda Mohammed has officially taken on the role of the 16th commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at the Kwara State Command. He succeeds Bala Bodinga Bawa, who has been redeployed to the national headquarters in Abuja after serving in the position for just over a month. Mohammed, a seasoned security professional with over two decades of experience in the Corps, brings extensive operational expertise to his new role.

Throughout his career, Mohammed has held various leadership positions, including his most recent role as commandant at Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna. He has also served as the Head of Operations for the Kwara State Command, the Head of the Anti-Vandal Unit in Niger State, and the Area Commander in Kainji Local Government Area. Additionally, he has worked as a Divisional Officer in Edati LGA and led the Counter-Terrorism Unit in Zamfara State. His experience further extends to various leadership responsibilities within the Federal Capital Territory Command.

Upon assuming office, Commandant Mohammed reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property, safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, and enhancing intelligence-driven operations throughout Kwara State. He issued a stern warning to criminal elements, vandals, and economic saboteurs, emphasizing that the state would not tolerate such activities. He declared that the command would implement proactive and decisive measures to combat all forms of criminality, stating, “Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property.”

Furthermore, the new commandant pledged to strengthen collaboration with sister security agencies, traditional institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to maintain peace and security in the state. His appointment comes at a crucial time when the NSCDC is intensifying efforts to address security challenges and protect critical infrastructure across the nation.
