Marcus Freeman: Jeremiyah Love is as talented, gifted, good a player as I've been around

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman has praised running back Jeremiyah Love, calling him not only the best prospect in the 2026 NFL draft but also one of the most talented football players he has ever encountered. In an interview with Colin Cowherd, Freeman emphasized Love’s exceptional athleticism, balance, and versatility, which distinguish him from his peers. He noted that Love’s skills extend beyond the running back position, suggesting that he could excel as an elite wide receiver or defensive back.

Freeman remarked, “Great players like Jeremiyah Love make coaches look really good. He is a unicorn. He is as talented and gifted an athlete as I’ve ever been around.” He also highlighted Love’s resilience, pointing out that some of his most impressive runs are not merely the highlight-reel plays but rather the instances where he transforms potential losses into modest gains.

In addition to Love, Freeman spoke highly of Notre Dame’s backup running back from last season, Jadarian Price, whom he referred to as the top running back prospect in the draft aside from Love. Together, these two players showcase a remarkable depth of talent at the running back position. Love is projected to be the first running back selected in the top five since Saquon Barkley was drafted second overall in 2018. His unique combination of speed, agility, and vision has drawn comparisons to some of the NFL’s most dynamic playmakers.

As the draft approaches, scouts and analysts are closely monitoring Love, who is expected to make an immediate impact at the professional level. With his distinctive skill set and Freeman’s strong endorsement, Love is well-positioned to become a cornerstone player for whichever team selects him early in the 2026 NFL draft.
