PDP Leaders in Ibarapa East Support Governor Makinde and Speaker Ogundoyin

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State have publicly rejected what they describe as attempts by unnamed external forces to destabilise the state’s political environment.

In a communiqué issued after a meeting on Wednesday, the party chieftains also pledged to prevent any actions that could sow discord between Governor Seyi Makinde and the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebowale Ogundoyin.

The communiqué, read by Adewuyi Ojoawo, who chaired the meeting, came in the wake of rumours on Tuesday alleging that Ogundoyin’s leadership of the House of Assembly was planning to impeach Governor Makinde.

The leaders dismissed the reports as baseless, describing them as a calculated attempt to create division between the executive and legislative arms of government. They stressed that the existing harmony between Governor Makinde and Speaker Ogundoyin, who represents Ibarapa East in the Assembly, must not be undermined.

“The Forum strongly condemns any attempt by external forces to destabilise the state or disrupt the harmony currently existing between the executive and legislative arms of government,” the communiqué stated.

The PDP leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the party’s unity and stability in the state, warning that they would not allow outside interests to interfere with Oyo State’s governance or create unnecessary political tension.

The statement underscores the sensitivity of relations between the governor and the legislature in Oyo State, particularly given recent speculation about political alignments ahead of future electoral cycles. The leaders’ stance signals a concerted effort to maintain cohesion within the ruling party and safeguard the state’s political stability.
