The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has rejected a statement allegedly issued by a group identifying itself as the Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter, which claimed to withdraw support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term. In a statement released on Saturday, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, characterized the claim as false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the party’s reputation. The APC emphasized that no recognized or constitutionally sanctioned body within the party has made such a decision, reaffirming that the Kano State Chapter remains fully committed to supporting Tinubu and his administration.
The statement from the APC noted, “The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party.” It further clarified that this so-called forum is not recognized within the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State. The party expressed its confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting his administration’s commitment to good governance, economic reforms, and national development.
Under the leadership of Umar Doguwa, the Kano APC urged party members and the public to disregard the withdrawal statement entirely, labeling it as the work of mischief-makers intent on creating unnecessary tension. The statement concluded by reaffirming the party’s unity and unwavering support for Tinubu’s vision for a better Nigeria. It also pointed out that the purported signatory of the withdrawal statement is faceless and lacks recognition as a stakeholder within the party at any level in Kano. The APC’s prompt rebuttal underscores its determination to maintain party cohesion and counter efforts to sow discord within its ranks as it prepares for future political engagements.
