APGA Releases 2027 Election Timetable, Nomination Fees

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has published a provisional timetable and schedule of activities for the party’s primary elections, which will determine its candidates for the 2027 general election. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ejimofor Opara.

According to the statement, the timetable aligns with the revised schedule released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on February 26, 2026, and is in accordance with APGA’s 2019 constitution and the Electoral Act 2026. The process will begin with the purchase and return of expression of interest forms, running from April 20 to May 8. Screening of aspirants will follow on May 11 for National Assembly positions, May 12 for State House of Assembly, and May 13 for gubernatorial candidates.

The party has confirmed that it will sell expression of interest forms separately to aspirants, who must pass the screening stage before being eligible to purchase nomination forms. Nomination forms will be available from May 14 to May 21. The fees for expression of interest forms are set at N25 million for the presidential ticket, N6 million for Senate, N4 million for House of Representatives, N10 million for governorship, and N2 million for State House of Assembly seats.

APGA’s primary elections are scheduled for May 23, 2026, and will be conducted using the Option A4 method. Any appeals arising from the primaries will be addressed on May 28, 2026.

The announcement comes ahead of the 2027 general election and reflects APGA’s efforts to streamline its candidate selection process in line with national electoral guidelines. The party’s South-East regional convention, held in Awka on Saturday, reaffirmed these arrangements and emphasized transparency and adherence to due process throughout the primaries.
