Al-Makura Backs Sule’s Endorsement of Wadada as Successor

Former Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has publicly backed Governor Abdullahi Sule’s endorsement of Senator Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor. Al-Makura, who served as governor from 2011 to 2019, expressed his support via social media, describing Sule’s decision as a legitimate exercise of political choice.

In his statement, Al-Makura emphasized that political endorsements are a normal part of democratic processes and that individuals should be free to support candidates of their choice without interference. He urged political actors and their supporters to maintain peace and adhere to due process in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.

Drawing from his own experience, Al-Makura recalled endorsing Sule as his successor during his tenure, noting that such decisions are within the rights of sitting governors. He called for unity among political stakeholders and encouraged a fair and respectful political environment in Nasarawa State.

The endorsement has added momentum to Wadada’s campaign, as he positions himself as a leading contender for the governorship. Political analysts say Sule’s backing could significantly influence the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries and shape the state’s political landscape in the coming months.
