Jigawa Governor Forms Political Mobilisation Committees for 2027 Elections

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has established political mobilisation committees across the state to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) and re-engage with grassroots supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The committees, operating at state, local government, and ward levels, were announced following a high-level meeting at the Government House in Dutse on Sunday. The gathering brought together top government officials, political appointees, and elected representatives.

Governor Namadi said the initiative aims to keep the party active, united, and responsive to the needs of its members and supporters. He emphasised that the committees would meet with party members, listen to their concerns, and encourage greater participation in party activities.

The governor noted that the teams would also reach out to aggrieved or inactive members in an effort to reintegrate them into the party fold. “We know the party is intact, but we need to go back to the people again, talk to them and explain what the government is doing so that people will continue to have confidence in the government,” he said.

He added that the committees would play a key role in building support for the 2027 elections through reconciliation, consultation, and grassroots mobilisation. Under the new arrangement, Governor Namadi will chair the state committee, with the state party chairman serving as co-chairman. Similar structures have been established for all 27 local government areas and 222 wards in the state.

The committees are expected to focus on strengthening party structures, increasing voter and membership registration, identifying challenges, and maintaining strong relationships among members and stakeholders.

The move is seen as part of broader efforts to consolidate the ruling party’s position in Jigawa State and ensure effective communication between the government and the electorate in the lead-up to the next general elections.
