Nollywood Actor Zubby Michael Donates N10.2 Million to the Needy as Tithe

Nigerian actor Zubby Michael has revealed that he recently donated N10.2 million to people in need on the streets, describing the sum as his “tithe.” The donation, he said, represents 10 per cent of the N102 million he earned from recent film roles.

Speaking in an interview with Broadway TV, Michael explained that he chose to give directly to the less privileged because he does not attend church and does not believe in paying tithes to religious institutions. “Not to brag, but I am the richest actor,” he said. “The last time I checked my book, I realised that I have made N102 million from artist’s fee lately—not in my whole career, but just of recent.”

He added, “I donated N10.2 million, which is 10 per cent of the money, to the needy on the street. I don’t pay tithe to the church. I don’t go to the church. I don’t believe in paying tithe to the church.”

The disclosure has sparked discussion online, with some praising his generosity toward the poor, while others questioned his decision to bypass traditional religious channels. Michael’s comments also highlight the growing influence of Nollywood stars in philanthropy, as well as the varied ways public figures interpret personal faith and giving.

Zubby Michael is one of Nigeria’s most prominent actors, known for his roles in high-grossing Nollywood productions. His recent earnings underscore the commercial success of the Nigerian film industry, which continues to expand its reach both locally and internationally.
