Nigerian DJ Kulet Reveals Past as Prostitute, Credits Jesus for Transformation

Nigerian disc jockey Kudirat Gbemisola, known professionally as DJ Kulet, has publicly shared her testimony of transformation, revealing that she once worked as a prostitute in Lagos State before embracing Christianity.

Speaking during a Sunday church service, DJ Kulet recounted her past struggles and how she overcame them through faith. In a video that has since gone viral on social media, she described herself as a “very popular prostitute” in the Surulere area of Lagos, where she grew up in Lawanson.

“I just want to say thank you Jesus because my story here in Surulere was a very bad one,” she said. “Everybody knows me because I grew up in Lawanson. But I repent, and God removed me from the gutter.”

The DJ detailed her journey from homelessness to stability, explaining that she initially rented a single room in a “face me I slap” apartment through earnings from sex work. She later moved to a self-contained room, and eventually secured a room-and-parlor apartment through her work as a DJ, despite facing challenges with a landlord who failed to provide basic amenities like a toilet for two years.

DJ Kulet stated that her fortunes changed dramatically when she was able to afford a four-bedroom en-suite apartment through her DJ career. In April 2025, she revealed that God had blessed her with the ability to purchase her own home in Surulere outright, without resorting to her former lifestyle.

“I did not sleep around to pay, and I paid in full with agent money,” she said in the video she shared on her Instagram page.

The DJ’s testimony highlights her complete turnaround from a troubled past to a successful career in music and real estate. Her story has resonated with many Nigerians, particularly those familiar with her previous life in Surulere.

DJ Kulet had previously disclosed in 2025 that she had been molested by a family member, adding another layer to her complex personal history that she says has been transformed through her faith.

Her testimony serves as an example of personal redemption and the potential for change, regardless of one’s past circumstances.
