FULafia Invites 82 Students to Examination Misconduct Committee

At least 82 students from the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) have been summoned to appear before the institution’s Examination Misconduct Committee over alleged breaches during recent examinations.

An internal memo dated April 16, 2025, and signed by committee secretary Rodney Ageh, instructs the affected students to collect their individual invitation letters from their respective departments before appearing before the panel on April 27 and 28.

The breakdown of implicated students includes two from Agricultural Economics and Extension, six from English and Literary Studies, eight from Biochemistry, five from Microbiology, nine from Library and Information Science, and four from Economics. Others are drawn from Agronomy, History and International Studies, Mass Communication, Political Science, Social Work, Mathematics, Petroleum Information Management, Business Administration, Procurement Management, Accounting, Computer Science Education, Special Needs Education, Vocational and Technical Education, Philosophy, Communication and Language Arts Education, Science Laboratory Technology, and Geography and Environmental Management.

University authorities are set to review each case in accordance with institutional regulations, with sanctions to be determined based on the severity of the violations.

This development highlights ongoing challenges in academic integrity across Nigerian higher education institutions, where examination malpractice remains a persistent concern despite intensified institutional efforts to curb it. The university’s decision to convene a formal panel underscores its commitment to upholding academic standards and ensuring accountability among its student body.
