Nigerian singer Qing Madi has accused her former record label, JTon Music, of attempting to sabotage her career. The 19-year-old artist made the allegations on Tuesday after the label reportedly removed her new collaboration with Zinoleesky, titled “Pepper Me,” from the streaming platform Spotify.
Qing Madi said she recently departed from the label following disputes and now believes it is retaliating by undermining her work. She claimed the label had previously sued her for $1 million but lost the case. “My ex-label, the same people that tried to destroy Cynthia Morgan, are trying to do the same to me,” she wrote on her Instagram page. “It’s paining you that I didn’t give up even after suing me for 1 million dollars and losing your case.”
The singer vowed to use all available means to ensure the song is restored on Spotify. She also referenced the struggles of fellow Nigerian artist Cynthia Morgan, whose career was reportedly derailed by disputes with her former label.
JTon Music has not yet responded to the allegations. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions in Nigeria’s music industry over artist-label relationships and creative control.
