APC Commissioners Secure Nasir Idris Nomination Forms for 2027

Kebbi State commissioners have secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression‑of‑interest and nomination forms for Governor Nasir Idris ahead of the 2027 governorship race. The forms, each priced at N50 million, were obtained in Abuja by Chairman of the Commissioners’ Forum and Finance Commissioner Abubakar Chika, together with Commissioner for Special Duties Zayyanu Aleiro, acting on behalf of the forum’s members.

The acquisition follows a resolution passed at a political meeting in Birnin Kebbi last year, where forum members voted confidence in Governor Idris and pledged to purchase his nomination form to support his administration. The APC opened sales of the forms on Tuesday, marking the start of its formal nomination process for aspirants across the country.

The expression‑of‑interest and nomination documents were released from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, where the APC has been coordinating the rollout of its 2027 election guidelines. The party’s schedule requires aspirants for various elective offices to begin consultations with party officials and submit formal notifications in accordance with APC protocols.

Governor Idris, who was re‑elected in 2023, used a recent state‑wide APC rally to reaffirm party unity and reiterate his support for President Bola Tinubu. His administration’s continued backing from the Commissioners’ Forum underscores the governor’s standing within the state’s ruling party apparatus.

The procurement of the forms by the commissioners signals an organized effort to consolidate support for the incumbent ahead of the upcoming primaries. As other aspirants across Nigeria commence their own nomination procedures, the APC’s internal dynamics in Kebbi will be closely watched for indications of broader factional alignments within the party.

Stakeholders anticipate that the next phase will involve the submission of candidates’ credentials to the APC’s state executive committee, followed by vetting and the eventual primary election. The outcome will shape the party’s ticket for the 2027 governorship contest and influence the political landscape in north‑western Nigeria.
