Two prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have submitted the party’s Expression of Interest (EOI) and Nomination forms as they prepare for the 2027 gubernatorial contest.
The filings were made on Wednesday in Abuja, according to Media Talk Africa.
Mr Adebayo Adelabu, the former Minister of Power and a native of Ibadan, submitted his documentation through his personal assistant, Mr Ajiboye, who collected the forms on his behalf from the APC Secretariat.
Barrister Sharafadeen Alli, the incumbent senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District and also an Ibadan indigene, retrieved his forms personally. He was accompanied by several members of the House of Representatives, including Hon. Remi Oseni, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, Hon. Olamiju Alao‑Akala, and Hon. Akin Alabi.
Both aspirants are key figures within the APC’s Oyo State structure and are expected to vie for the party’s ticket in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Their early submission of EOI and nomination documents signals a strategic move to consolidate support ahead of the party’s primary schedule, which is likely to be announced later this year.
The filings underscore the growing momentum of the 2027 gubernatorial race in Oyo State, as the APC prepares to field candidates who can leverage their political experience and regional ties. Stakeholders will be watching the party’s primary process closely, as the outcome will shape the APC’s prospects in the state’s next electoral cycle.
