Kwankwasiyya Leader Kabiru Abdullahi Resigns from ADC

A prominent Kwankwasiyya leader in Kano State’s Dala Local Government Area, Hon. Kabiru Adamu Abdullahi, has formally resigned from the All Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a resignation letter dated May 1, 2026, addressed to the party chairman of the Kofar Ruwa Ward, Abdullahi announced that he is leaving the ADC with immediate effect. “I hereby formally resign my membership of All Democratic Congress (ADC) at Kofar Ruwa Ward with immediate effect,” the letter read. He thanked the party for the opportunity to serve, wished the organization “the very best in your future endeavors,” and requested that his notice be communicated to the appropriate authorities.

Abdullahi, who is currently a House of Assembly aspirant, is considered one of the leading figures of the Kwankwasiyya movement in Dala. In a separate Facebook post, he linked his decision to a directive from the movement’s leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, referring to him as “Jagora,” the term commonly used by Kwankwasiyya supporters for their head. “This is the order of Jagora,” Abdullahi wrote.

The resignation underscores the influence of Kwankwasiyya leadership on party affiliations within Kano’s political landscape. As the ADC prepares for upcoming electoral contests, the departure of a high‑profile member may affect its grassroots mobilization in the region. No immediate successor to Abdullahi’s party role has been announced, and the ADC has yet to comment publicly on the implications of his exit.

Stakeholders will be watching how the Kwankwasiyya movement redirects its support and whether the ADC can maintain its organizational strength in Dala ahead of the next election cycle.
