The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a scheduled two‑day power outage for customers in several districts of the Federal Capital Territory, including Lugbe, Airport Road, and Gaduwa. The notice, posted on AEDC’s verified X account on Friday, states that the interruption will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the request of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
The outage is intended to facilitate the relocation of critical electrical infrastructure along the 33 kV feeders H21 and H23 and the 11 kV feeder H1A in the Gaduwa district. AEDC explained that the work is part of a broader road‑construction project deemed to serve the overriding public interest.
During the outage period, electricity supply to the affected areas will be temporarily discontinued. AEDC assured consumers that power will be restored immediately after the completion of the relocation and construction activities. The company apologized for any inconvenience and thanked residents for their understanding.
The planned interruption aligns with ongoing efforts to upgrade Abuja’s power distribution network and improve road safety. By relocating the feeders, AEDC aims to reduce the risk of future outages caused by road works and to enhance the reliability of electricity supply in the capital.
Customers are advised to make necessary arrangements for the two‑day power cut and to stay informed through AEDC’s official communication channels for any updates. The restoration of service is expected promptly after the work concludes on Sunday.
