The Federal Government announced that sections of the Ikorodu‑Sagamu Road will be partially closed from Monday to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation of damaged highway segments.
Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Olayiwola Komolafe, said the temporary closure is required to allow contractors to resume reconstruction on critical sections of the route. He noted that the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has instructed Arab Contractors to return to the site and accelerate the completion of key project components.
The closures affect the stretch from Ikorodu Roundabout to Sabo Junction and the Lagos Cement to Coca‑Cola corridor within Sagamu. Motorists traveling from Ikorodu toward Sagamu will be diverted to alternate lanes operating under a counter‑flow traffic arrangement for the duration of the works.
Komolafe indicated that the reconstruction is expected to take approximately three months, a period necessary for both construction activities and proper curing of the concrete pavement. To manage traffic flow, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed along the affected corridor.
Road users have been urged to cooperate with traffic management personnel and security agencies throughout the project. The Ministry of Works also appealed for public understanding of the inconvenience caused by the repair works.
The partial closure is part of a broader effort to restore the Ikorodu‑Sagamu Road, a major link between Lagos and Ogun states, enhancing safety and reducing travel time once the rehabilitation is completed.
