Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has been accused by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of inconsistency regarding the launch of the newly established University of Ilesa. The APC’s criticism follows the governor’s assurance on Friday, after an on‑site assessment of the upgraded College of Education in Ilesa, that the University of Ilesa is “here to stay.” Adeleke added that he was working to ensure the institution’s proper and sustainable take‑off.
In a statement obtained in Osogbo on Saturday, APC acting chairman Tajudeen Lawal condemned what he described as the “haphazard manner” in which Adeleke reversed earlier policies on both the university’s launch and the Ilesa Water Project. Lawal argued that these policy flips indicated a lack of sincerity and suggested the governor was seeking votes under false pretenses ahead of the upcoming elections.
“The policy somersault has become the hallmark of the Adeleke administration,” the statement read. “How can a governor in a supposedly democratic dispensation issue policy statements like a military dictator? The haphazard reversal of earlier policies on the Ilesa University and the Ilesa Water Project shows he is not sincere and is out to swindle the populace.”
Lawal called on all Osun indigenes, wherever they may be, to pray for deliverance from what he termed a “kick‑and‑push” governor. He urged party members and supporters to turn out in large numbers to vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming Saturday House of Assembly elections across the state.
