Enugu Rangers International have been crowned champions of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after defeating Ikorodu City 2-1 in a tense final-day clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
The Flying Antelopes secured their second league title in three years under coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, matching a historic ninth NPFL crown.
Captain Chidiebere N’Obodo delivered a captain’s performance for Rangers, scoring twice to guide the Enugu side to victory. His first goal came in the 30th minute with a powerful finish before he reacted quickest to a rebound in the 55th minute to double Rangers’ advantage.
Ikorodu City responded through Moses Ali, who reduced the deficit late in the game, but Rangers held on under intense pressure to seal the crucial win.
The result ensured Rangers finished top of the table regardless of Rivers United’s outcome against Katsina United in Port Harcourt.
Heading into the final day, Rangers led the standings with 65 points, just one ahead of Rivers United, setting up a dramatic title race that went down to the final whistle.
Thousands of travelling Rangers supporters created an electric atmosphere in Lagos, celebrating another historic moment for one of Nigeria’s most successful football clubs.
The triumph also reinforces Fidelis Ilechukwu’s growing legacy at the club after leading Rangers to league success in 2024 and now again in 2026.
