On Saturday, armed robbery suspects invaded the Eleshin area of Olomo community in Apete, Ido Local Government Area, Oyo State, and operated freely. The suspects reportedly stormed the area at about 1 a.m., armed with a Point‑of‑Sale (POS) machine that they allegedly used to transfer money from the bank accounts of their victims.
Metro learned that the incident has thrown the entire community into panic, with residents now living in palpable fear. One resident, who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons, said, “The armed robbers arrived around 1 a.m. and operated freely. They came with a POS machine and transferred an amount of money—still unspecified—from one victim’s account, as well as an undisclosed sum from his wife’s account, before leaving. They also took two phones, an iPhone 11 Pro Max and an iPhone XS Max.”
The case was reported to the Apete Divisional Police Headquarters. As of press time on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached for comment.
