The Labour Party, under the leadership of Nenadi Usman, has officially selected Chibuzo Okereke as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The decision was reached through a broad consensus among party members and stakeholders, confirmed in Abuja on May 30, 2026, according to a statement released on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa.
The party describes Okereke as a governance expert, policy strategist, and reform advocate with a strong reputation in public policy, legislative governance, and institutional development. He currently serves as President of ERGAF-AFRICA Legislative Governance Innovation and Policy Hub, a leading policy and legislative research institution, and works as a legislative consultant to key committees and senior members of the National Assembly.
Okereke also teaches as a resident lecturer in the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Miva Open University in Abuja, helping shape the next generation of public sector leaders. The party highlights his expertise in governance, public accountability, and national development, noting that he is a respected analyst and commentator on major media platforms.
With a PhD in Legislative Governance Studies and two master’s degrees in Public Administration and Legislative Studies, both earned with distinction, Okereke is also committed to youth empowerment, educational advancement, and democratic reforms. The party believes his leadership, intellectual depth, and dedication to good governance represent the kind of competent and transformational leadership Nigeria needs at this critical time.
