Victor Osimhen will be looking to net his 50th goal for Napoli when the club hosts Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League second‑leg last‑16 tie on Wednesday, Sports Extra reports. The match will also mark his 90th appearance for Napoli since joining from Lille in 2020 for a record €80 million fee. In 89 games across all competitions, the Nigerian forward has recorded 49 goals and 14 assists.
Osimhen, who is expected to spearhead Napoli’s push to reach the quarter‑finals for the first time in the club’s history, believes the team can go all the way and win the Champions League. No Italian side has lifted the trophy since José Mourinho’s Inter Milan in 2009‑10, and none have reached the final since Juventus in 2017. Having scored twice in four Champions League appearances this season, Osimhen is confident Napoli can break the trend. “We are doing well this season and I believe we can win the Champions League,” he told *Gazzetta dello Sport*. “It feels like a ‘magical’ season where you can’t set limits on what a team can achieve. Remember Leicester City? They aimed for European qualification, then everyone realised they could actually win the league, and they did. It could be the same with Napoli.”
The striker has been outstanding alongside teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as Napoli appears poised to end a 33‑year wait for the Scudetto, with 12 league games remaining. Osimhen has scored 19 Serie A goals this season, while Kvaratskhelia has contributed 11. Speaking to Sky Sport Italia on Tuesday, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised the attacking duo: “Kvaratskhelia is a great player, he is doing well with Osimhen, they are very efficient.” Ancelotti also commended Italian clubs for their Champions League performances, noting, “Italian clubs are doing well in the Champions League. There could be three clubs in the quarter‑finals, which would be a strong signal to Europe.”
