Zamfara NSCDC vows to ensure smooth guber, State Assembly elections

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Zamfara State Command, Commandant Mohammed Bello Muazu, has affirmed the commitment and readiness of the Corps to ensure a smooth conduct of the forthcoming gubernatorial and State Assembly elections in collaboration with other sister agencies.

This was stated by the State Commandant in a stakeholders meeting organized and hosted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Zamfara State, chaired by Prof Mohammed Sani Kalla (OON), National Commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, at the INEC State Headquarters.

Muazu averred that the Corps is in high spirits and have made strategic deployments based on population and vulnerability of registration areas to insecurity for the purpose of the March 18th elections.

The State NSCDC boss opined that, in a strong synergy with other sister agencies, the elections will be adjudged the best in terms of security coverage.

He also said that the Corps has provided about 10 hotlines across the senatorial zones that could easily be reached in the advent of any perceived threat or emergency in addition to the operation room and network created by the Corps where all information are being synchronized directly from the 14 local government areas of the state during the elections.

The State Commandant, however, appealed to the various stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies and to enjoin their followers to be of good conduct and law abiding during and after the elections.

Meanwhile, the convener of the meeting, Kalla urged all stakeholders to be law abiding and to ensure a hitch free elections.

He commended Zamfara State for a smooth conduct of the last general elections, expressing optimism and confidence in the security architecture of the State to ensure another round of smooth conduct of elections.
