Ondo Police Arrest Man, 27, for Alleged Defilement of Girl, 15

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Solomon Onaola, over the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the case was initially reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station before being transferred to the Gender-Based Offences Unit due to the sensitive nature of the allegation.

According to police, the victim’s guardian reported the incident on August 2, 2026. Preliminary investigations indicate the teenager, who worked as a domestic helper in a household, had repeatedly left home without permission. When questioned about her movements, the girl allegedly disclosed that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he reportedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her on multiple occasions.

Following the report, police operatives launched an investigation and subsequently arrested the suspect. The Command stated that the victim has been placed under appropriate care while necessary procedures are being followed in line with established protocols for handling cases involving alleged sexual offences against minors.

Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed the Gender-Based Offences Unit to conduct a thorough and professional investigation to establish the facts and ensure justice is served. The commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society from sexual exploitation, abuse, and other forms of violence.

The Command also urged parents, guardians, and members of the public to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the welfare and activities of children under their care. The case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of minors, particularly those in domestic work arrangements, and underscores the importance of community awareness in preventing such crimes.
