Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential hopeful for 2027, has taken a sharp swipe at Afrobeats superstar Davido over his political maneuvering during the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
In a fiery post on his X account on Saturday, August 15, 2026, Sowore accused the singer and his influential family of prioritizing their own financial and political gains over the welfare of Osun’s residents. He didn’t hold back, painting a picture of a family trying to play both sides of the aisle.
Sowore specifically called out Davido for cozying up to President Bola Tinubu’s administration at the federal level while simultaneously pushing to keep his family’s grip on Osun State’s resources. He framed this as a classic case of opportunism, where personal enrichment trumps genuine service to the people.
“Now you know, Davido. You guys thought you could have it both ways, opportunism and political hedging,” Sowore wrote. “You want your family to keep controlling the Osun State purse while embracing the same monstrous Tinubu @officialabat establishment at the federal level. In the end, it is about protecting personal and family interests, not the interests of the people of Osun State or Nigerians. You cannot claim to stand with the people while simultaneously cutting deals with the political establishment that has failed them.”
Sowore concluded with a warning, saying he hopes the lesson is now clear to the public. “Nigerians should now know exactly who these people are, what they represent, and whose interests they truly serve,” he added.
