African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has launched a scathing attack on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke over his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general Elections. In a post on his verified X handle, Sowore characterized the governor’s support as an endorsement of a “failed presidency” engaged in a mission to destroy Nigeria beyond the next electoral cycle.
The criticism follows Adeleke’s public declaration of support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, made shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared him winner of the recent Osun State governorship election. Sowore argued that the alliance underscores a transactional relationship between the two political families rather than a commitment to national development.
“Governor Adeleke has endorsed the failed Tinubu presidency to continue its mission of destroying Nigeria beyond 2027,” Sowore wrote. He further alleged that the Adelekes and the Tinubus are primarily “looking out for their own personal and political interests, watching each other’s backs, protecting their political fortunes, and safeguarding their loot.”
The activist and former presidential candidate also drew attention to the human cost of the recent electoral contest in Osun State. He expressed sorrow for the nearly 50 people whose lives were lost in election-related violence before and during the polls. Sowore contended that the bloodshed served only to demonstrate how far the political elite will go to protect mutual interests.
