The Police have deployed the entire Bayelsa State Command for Saturday’s House of Assembly election. Commissioner of Police Mohammed Dankwara, who oversees election security in Bayelsa, announced the deployment while addressing journalists at the state headquarters in Yenagoa on Friday. He assured voters that adequate security would be provided before, during, and after the poll, urging residents to participate without fear.

Dankwara emphasized that the command is cooperating with other security and paramilitary agencies to guarantee a violence‑free ballot. He dismissed rumors of a security breach, describing them as orchestrated attempts to create panic. According to the commissioner, both tactical and mobile police units have been fully mobilized for election duties.

“The deployment is now complete and everything is in top gear,” Dankwara said. “We are expected to have a rancour‑free election.” He added that there is no genuine security threat, noting that the previous election held three weeks earlier proceeded without incident. He warned that some individuals spread fear simply to stir panic.
