The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has been elected for a sixth term to represent the Agege 1 constituency. The declaration was made on Sunday at the Collation Centre in Orile Agege by Dr. Lukman Adeniji, the INEC Returning Officer for the Agege constituency election.

According to Dr. Adeniji, eight political parties fielded candidates for the election held on Saturday. Obasa, running under the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 17,214 votes, comfortably beating his opponents: Raheem Alani of the Labour Party, who received 3,933 votes; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who garnered 1,609 votes; and Kafayat Biobaku of the African Democratic Congress, who obtained only 62 votes. “Mubashiru Obasa of the All Progressives Congress, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Adeniji announced.

In a related development, Alhaji Jubreel Abdulkareem of the APC also won the Agege 2 Assembly seat. The former Chairman of Agege Local Government Area secured 15,676 votes, defeating the Labour Party and PDP candidates, who received 7,159 and 1,598 votes respectively.
