The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi, announced on Monday the dismissal of all 64 Development Centre Coordinators and the dissolution of the state’s Boards and Commissions, except for the Ebonyi State University Governing Council. This decision follows the governorship and House of Assembly elections held on March 18, 2023.
Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Ugbala Kenneth, instructed those affected to return all government property in their possession, including official vehicles, to his office by the close of business on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. He emphasized that the Development Centre Coordinators must hand over their assets to the office of the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, while the Boards and Commissions are to return their property to their respective parent ministries by the same deadline.
The government will form a transition committee to advise whether the Boards, Commissions, and Development Centre Coordinators should be reconstituted or left to the incoming administration. The state has noted the members who performed well in their roles and will consider them for accommodation during any reconstitution. All parties are required to comply immediately with this directive.
