The Delta State governor‑elect, Sheriff Oborevwori, assured the people of the state on Monday that he would build on the achievements of outgoing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. In a statement he personally signed, he expressed gratitude to Delta residents for electing him and noted that the previous administration had laid “the right foundations to build a stronger and more prosperous Delta State.” He pledged that his mandate would focus on consolidation and growth, investment and economic reform, and making youth the centerpiece of policies and programmes. “My goal remains to make life richer, better, and more fulfilling for all,” he said.
Oborevwori reflected on his six and a half years as Speaker of the State House of Assembly, saying he had learned the importance of setting government priorities, communicating the goals and outcomes of policies and programmes, and pursuing them with relentless zeal. He added, “I certainly believe that my rich experiences in the executive and legislative arms of government put me in good stead to provide good governance to our people.”
He also commended his opponents for their robust campaign and hard‑fought electoral battle, stating that he looks forward to any ideas and advice they may offer to help move Delta forward.
