The All Progressives Congress has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to investigate alleged over‑voting and a compromised Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in Saturday’s Bauchi State governorship election. APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka made the call in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Morka said the March 18 election was marred by indisputable cases of over‑voting, massive electoral fraud, thuggery, harassment, intimidation and widespread violence. He urged INEC to expeditiously investigate reports that BVAS was compromised in many voting units across the state.

According to Morka, the local government areas of Alkaleri, Kirfi, Toro, Warji, Ningi and Zaki experienced extensive violence, over‑voting and massive rigging against the APC governorship candidate, retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. He noted that inexplicably large vote totals were recorded in polling units where no voting took place and results were never collated. He also alleged extensive cancellations of results in the APC candidate’s strongholds, without valid justification, seemingly intended to depress his vote count and give an undue advantage to the PDP candidate, incumbent Governor Bala Mohammed.

Morka cited a brazen incident in which a serving PDP commissioner in the state was captured on camera buying votes openly, in the presence of citizens, security officials and media. He criticized the officials for failing to arrest the individual for further investigation and prosecution.

The APC rejects the invented election figures and INEC’s declaration of the governor‑elect in Bauchi State. Morka concluded by calling on INEC to cancel the election results in the aforementioned LGAs, which were characterized by over‑voting, destruction of electoral materials, harassment, intimidation and widespread violence.
