Court grants bail to Rivers federal lawmaker, Chinyere Igwe

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has granted bail to a member representing Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2, at the National Assembly, Chinyere Igwe, in the sum of N100,000.

Trial Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam, in his ruling on the bail application, directed that Igwe should submit his international passport to the Nigerian Immigration Service.

Media Talk Africa reports that the matter was adjourned till the 4th of May, 2023, for commencement of trial.

Igwe was arrested by the police after it was discovered that he had in his possession $498,000 on February 24, 2023, during a stop-and-search operation by the police. He was charged with money laundering.
