‘Allow us to enjoy our honeymoon’, 66-year-old man trolled for marrying “underage girl” replies critics

A 66-year-old businessman, Aminu Danmaliki, has denied marrying an underage girl.

Recall that when the wedding video of the couple went viral, some social media critics accused Mr Danmaliki of marrying an 11-year-old girl.

Following widespread condemnation, the groom took to his Facebook page to dispel the rumour.

In his Facebook post on Wednesday, Mr Danmaliki disclosed that his wife’s age is 21, not 11 as people claimed.

He said: “My recent marriage with Sakina has generated a lot of tension and unfounded allegations that I married an underage girl some suggesting she is 11 years old and that she was forced to marry me.

“That is untrue. The wedding video went viral. We decided to keep mute but I was advised to state the true facts.”

According to him, his wife was neither forced to marry him, nor arranged without her consent.

He said: “My beloved wife is 21 years old she made her own choice of me as her husband and I loved her too.

“I hope the blackmailers and doubting Thomas’s will see the reality in this picture and leave us alone to enjoy our honeymoon.”

Checks by DAILY NIGERIAN revealed that the 21-year-old Sakina is a 300 Level student of Bauchi State University Gadau, Information and Library Science.
