Soludo reacts as fire destroys Onitsha Main Market

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has commiserated with traders at the Onitsha main market over the fire incident which razed down their shops.

Soludo sent his commiserations on Wednesday in a statement signed by Mr Christian Aburime, his Press Secretary.

Media Talk Africa reports that fire had on Tuesday razed a two-storey building housing the Onitsha main market Police Station and shops where they sell fabrics.

The Governor expressed sadness over the early morning fire with the attendant loss of goods and property worth millions of naira.

“I want to reiterate the need for all to be extra vigilant in preventing outbreak of fire incidences in the markets, offices and even our homes.

“I commend the efforts of the Fire-fighters and other security agencies who battled to contain the inferno,” he said.

Soludo assured that the government would investigate the incident with a view to preventing future occurrences.
