Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker, emphasized that Nigeria does not underestimate the Djurtus of Guinea‑Bissau ahead of Friday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier. The Napoli forward said the team will give Guinea‑Bissau the respect it deserves and expressed confidence that the Super Eagles are ready to defeat them.
The two sides last met in a group match at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, where Nigeria won 3‑0. This time, the three‑time African champions will face Baciro Cande’s side in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations match‑day three encounter at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
“We are looking forward to it, and I’m happy to be back in the squad. It’s an amazing feeling, and we really expect an amazing result in the two‑legged game against Guinea‑Bissau,” Osimhen told NFF TV. “We don’t underrate our opponent; we want to give them the respect they deserve as a team.”
