Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State expressed sorrow over the death of former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasiru Nono, who died on Thursday in a tragic motor accident on the Abuja‑Keffi Road. In a press statement released by Ismaila Uba‑Misilli, Director‑General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, the governor described the loss as monumental, affecting not only Nono’s family but also the state and Nigeria as a whole.

Yahaya highlighted Nono’s reputation as a humble, down‑to‑earth politician known for his commitment to the welfare of his constituents and the people of the state. He noted that the former Speaker performed his legislative duties with “tact, dexterity and statesmanship” while presiding over the state legislature, earning the respect and loyalty of his colleagues.

On behalf of the government and the people of Gombe State, the governor conveyed his deepest condolences to Nono’s immediate family, his political associates, and the residents of Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area. He concluded by praying that Almighty Allah grants the deceased Aljannat Firdaus.
