Kaduna govt warns aggrieved politicians, restates protest ban

The Kaduna State government says it will deal decisively with aggrieved politicians that sponsor and instigate their followers towards unruly public actions in the state.

The government said, “it is receipt of credible intelligence reports revealing plans by aggrieved politicians to sponsor and instigate their followers to unruly public actions.”

Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs explained that it followed the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in the state that led to the emergence of the APC governor-elect, Senator Uba Sani.

The Commissioner stated that in view of these reports, the government continues to monitor the situation closely in tandem with security agencies towards ensuring peaceful coexistence in the state.

He assured that the state government would not spare persons or groups who engage in actions which could lead to civil unrest, threat to life and destruction of property, saying that the full weight of the law will be applied accordingly.

Samuel Aruwan reiterated that the suspension of street protests or processions remained in place in the overall public interest across the state.

He urged parents, guardians and community leaders to educate their wards against being used by persons who sought to prey on vulnerable emotions and volatile atmosphere to generate chaos against the government’s efforts towards maintaining an enabling environment for people to carry out their legitimate businesses.
