EPL: Alexis Sanchez reveals why he snubbed Guardiola, Man City for Mourinho’s Man United

Former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has revealed why he snubbed Manchester City for Manchester United in January 2018.

He also said he believes Manchester City would have won the Champions League by now had it been he joined Pep Guardiola’s side,

Sanchez was involved in one of the most contentious transfers in the English top flight’s history when he forced his departure from Arsenal in January 2018.

Sanchez got frustrated by Arsenal’s inability to challenge for the Premier League and other trophies and wanted to team up again with his former coach at Barcelona Pep Guardiola before Manchester United made him some offers he could not resist.

The Chilean said that he was in constant contact with City boss Guardiola who was like a dad to him and everything was set for the move before Mourinho suddenly showed up.

“My cell phone rings. Mourinho tells me: ‘Alexis, here is the [Jersey No.]seven available for you.’ Sanchez told La Tercera

“And he[Mourinho] said to me here is the [jersey No]seven, we are playing in the Champions League and we are going to give everything.

“That’s when I said to myself, Chilean footballer playing for Manchester United, something that has never happened.

“With the seven of Cantona, Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and now a Chilean had it, it was a dream.”
