Terrorists have reportedly shot dead Rev. Musa Mairimi, the minister in charge of Ecwa Church in Buda Two, Kasuwa Magani, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Joseph Hayab, confirmed the incident to the press on Saturday. He said the attackers invaded the community on Thursday, killing the clergyman and abducting his wife. Over 100 people who had been taken from different parts of the state were subsequently released.

Hayab explained that more than 100 individuals had been held in terrorist camps for over six months, particularly in the local government areas of Kauru, Jaba, Kachia, Kagarko, and Kajuru. He noted that shortly after the presidential election, three clergymen were abducted, and the terrorists demanded a ransom of N50 million for one of them who remains in captivity. “The negotiation, which started at N50 million, has now been reduced to N5 million. That is the situation we find ourselves in in Kaduna State,” he said.

“Who will you cry to and who will you run to? Since the wave of kidnappings began in Kaduna, no concrete arrests have been made,” Hayab lamented. Commenting on the recently concluded governorship and state House of Assembly elections in Kaduna, he observed that a rumor of a particular party’s victory sparked widespread celebration, indicating public anger with the current administration. He concluded, “Whoever emerges as the new leader in the state must understand the people’s frustration and be willing to act differently; then a new sigh of relief will not be far off.”
