Senator Uba Sani, the governor‑elect of Kaduna State, pledged that his administration will include all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity, when he assumes office on May 29, 2023. He made the statement while receiving a delegation of pastors from the Progressive Pastors Platform during a solidarity visit to Kaduna, the state capital, on Sunday. Emphasizing unity, Sani said Kaduna belongs to everyone and added, “We will try as much as possible to carry everyone along, whether you voted for us or not.”
In the same audience, Sani welcomed governorship candidates from nine political parties—Action Alliance, Social Democratic Party, Boot Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance, National Rescue Movement, Action Peoples Party, African Democratic Congress, Accord Party, and Peoples Redemption Party. He assured them that his government would serve all people, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation, to sustain development across the state.
Addressing the clergy, the governor‑elect remarked, “I am happy that the pastors before me have chosen the path of development and progress for our state over parochial issues of religion and ethnicity. I am also glad you have agreed to work with us, and we have agreed to carry everyone along. We will not discriminate on the basis of religion or ethnicity; we are all citizens of Kaduna State, which belongs to all of us.” He reiterated his commitment to inclusivity, noting that Kaduna is the only state that has abolished the dichotomy between indigene and citizen, and pledged to continue fighting the politics of religion.
Rev. Emmanuel Adebayo, National Coordinator of the Progressive Pastors Platform, urged Sani to begin building bridges across societal divides now that the election is over, citing the “sharp bitterness” that characterized the recent contest. He said the group would advocate for broad support to help Sani govern effectively.
Sani thanked the governorship candidates for their solidarity and expressed confidence in collaborative progress. “When I look at the manifestos of all the parties here, we share common goals in education, healthcare, security, and youth empowerment. That is why I believe we can work together to move Kaduna State forward by the grace of God,” he said.
Timothy Adamu, the Action Alliance governorship candidate, spoke on behalf of the other contenders, congratulating Sani on his victory. “We all contested with you, but as the saying goes, every decision belongs to God. It is God who gives power to whom He wishes and at the time He wishes,” he concluded.
