A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ekiti State ordered on Monday that twins Taiwo and Kehinde Sunday be remanded to the correctional centre. The 19‑year‑old brothers are accused of stealing electronics and other goods worth N825,000 from a residence. They face two counts of housebreaking and theft.
Police prosecutor Inspector Olubu Apata told the court that the alleged offence occurred at about 1 a.m. on 28 January in Ilupeju, Ekiti. He claimed the defendants broke into the home of Ogunyemi Kayode, removed electronics, a mattress and other valuables belonging to the complainant, and fled with goods valued at N825,000. The prosecutor said the acts violated sections 412, 323(a) and (c) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021 and urged that the twins be remanded pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution’s office.
Chief Magistrate Kehinde Awosika granted the remand and adjourned the case for mention on 27 April, pending the issuance of the requested legal advice.
