The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, expressed his condolences on Monday to the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, over the death of his mother, Chief Mrs. Justina Ogundoyin. The governor described the loss of Mrs. Ogundoyin, the Iyaloja‑General of Ibarapa land, as both painful and shocking.
In a statement released by the governor’s Special Assistant for Print Media, Moses Alao, Governor Makinde extended his sympathy to the entire Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin dynasty of Eruwa and the people of Ibarapa land. He praised the late Mrs. Ogundoyin as a heroine among women, noting that her passing would leave a significant vacuum in both Ibarapa land and Oyo State.
Governor Makinde also reflected on the consolation that Mrs. Ogundoyin lived to see her son’s re‑election to the House of Assembly and the landslide victory of the Peoples Democratic Party in the recent governorship election—achievements she had laboured for. He urged the Speaker and his siblings to remain strong and courageous, and prayed that God grant the Ogundoyin family the fortitude to bear this loss.
