The Ondo State Government’s Osun State chapter of the Amotekun Corps announced the arrest of two under‑age boys who allegedly broke into a shop in Osogbo and stole food items and money. Retired Brigadier‑General Bashir Adewinmbi, the state Amotekun commander, disclosed the details to reporters on Tuesday.
According to Adewinmbi, the boys—aged 13 and 11—entered a shop in Asubiaro, Osogbo, in the early hours of Saturday. They took recharge cards, noodles, beverages and some cash. The shop owner reported the theft to the Amotekun Osogbo Command, and operatives located the suspects at about 6:24 p.m. that same day in an unfinished building. “The duo was arrested at their hideout after our operatives received intelligence about their location,” the commander said. The boys were found still in possession of some of the stolen items and, during interrogation, confessed to the crime.
The parents of the boys arrived to secure their release, pleaded with the shop owner, and agreed to pay for the damages and the stolen goods. After reaching an agreement with the shop owner, the Amotekun commander released the suspects to their parents.
Adewinmbi used the incident to urge parents to train their children properly, monitor their activities, and be vigilant about the friends they keep. He emphasized that parents should closely track their children’s movements and always know their whereabouts.
