The Ogun State Police Command has given sensational singer Habeeb Okikiola—better known as Portable—a 72‑hour ultimatum to report to the nearest police station, warning that he will be arrested by Friday if he fails to comply. The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the development in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Wednesday. Oyeyemi said Portable has been instructed to submit himself to the police or face arrest, and noted that Portable’s father has pleaded on his son’s behalf, promising to bring him to the station.

The urgency follows two videos that went viral on Tuesday, in which Portable cursed several officers of the Ogun State Police. In the clips, he claimed an internet fraudster had led the police to his bar to arrest him and his staff “for no reason.” Oyeyemi clarified that the police moved to arrest Portable after sending five invitations to him and an additional one through his father, none of which were honored. The police action was prompted by a petition from a young studio owner who alleged that Portable and his aides beat him into a stupor and locked his studio.

Oyeyemi explained, “Upon receiving the petition, an invitation letter was sent to him five times, but he refused to appear at the police station. Another invitation was sent through his father, yet he still did not come.” He added that the police do not wish to undermine law and order, and therefore planned to effect his arrest on Tuesday. Since then, Portable has released a series of videos making various statements. “His father has been begging, but we have told him that if Portable refuses to turn himself in between now and Friday, he will be arrested,” Oyeyemi said.

Reports also indicate that in 2022 Portable’s father escorted him to the Police Headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta, after the singer ignored a police invitation regarding an alleged assault on a disc jockey in the Sango area of the state.
