Group asks Bauchi APC chairman to resign

A group under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Patriotic Support Group has asked the Chairman of the party in Bauchi State, Mr Babayo Misau to resign his appointment.

The group also urged the national leadership of the party to adopt practical steps that would prevent members who defected from returning to its fold.

The Chairman of the group, Almustapha Zubairu made the call at a news conference on Wednesday in Bauchi.

He said that the chairman of the party should honorably resign for allegedly abandoning his responsibility at the time of peak need.

“We call on him to honorably resign as the Chairman of our great party in the interest of justice and for the rebuilding process of our party to succeed.

“We do not wish to dwell on numerous anti-party activities that have been labelled against him including financial recklessness which is already in the public domain.

“Worst again, he decided to openly display his ballot paper without voting for the gubernatorial candidate of his party,” Zubairu said.

On decampees, Zubairu said that some of the former party members had indicated interest to pitch tent with the APC, after failing to achieve their selfish interest in their present political parties.

“We understand that those who contested and failed woefully in free and fair APC primaries at all levels, and shamefully defected to other parties to vie for elective positions are now head-bent to return.

“They want to return after melting all sorts of lies on the party and its leadership at state and national levels.

“We condemn it in totality and those who are hobnobbing in this regard should be wary about the desperate and unholy sportsmanship exhibited in their quest towards self fulfillment at all cost.

“That should not be allowed to stand. The spoils of war should only be enjoyed by the veterans of war,” he said.
