Governors‑elect Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, and Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, together with officials from other states, received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday.

In Port Harcourt, INEC National Commissioner for Akwa‑Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers states, Mrs. May Agbamuche‑Mbu, presented the certificates to Governor‑elect Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the 32 members‑elect of the Rivers State House of Assembly. After receiving his certificate, Fubara said, “For the opposition, our doors are open, including our window. If you don’t want to pass the door, you can enter through the window because we really need everyone on board for a better and more progressive Rivers State.”

Delta State’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Monday Tom, handed Oborevwori his Certificate of Return. The newly elected governor expressed his joy, stating, “I’m very, very happy to receive the Certificate of Return from INEC. It is an important day for me. The Peoples Democratic Party worked very hard to win the election, especially in Ethiope East, where the PDP had not won for the past 20 years.”

In Jalingo, Kefas received his Certificate of Return from INEC and told journalists that, upon assuming office on May 29, he will prioritize security, infrastructure, agriculture, and health care. “I will look at where the government has stopped and continue where necessary. I will prioritize the security of lives and property, promote agriculture, strengthen infrastructure to give our people a good quality of life, and improve health care for the betterment of the people,” he said.
