Some parents who brought their children to the “Batch A” examination in most centres were forced to wait until 5 p.m., even though they had expected the test to finish by 9 a.m. Candidates who sat for the mock Joint Admission Matriculation Examination in Ekiti on Thursday, and their parents, expressed disgust that a test scheduled for 7 a.m. did not begin until 2 p.m. They lamented technical and logistical problems that caused delays in most of the computer‑based test centres in the state.

The Acting Coordinator of JAMB in Ekiti, Ebenezer Owolafe, denied reports of technical hitches. He explained that only candidates scheduled to write the mock examination at 8 a.m. had their tests rescheduled to 2 p.m. He appealed to candidates and their parents to pardon the rescheduling, noting that proper notification had not been given. Owolafe said the mock exercise was successful across major centres in the state and that the board would correct any noticeable hiccups before the proper examination in April.

Candidates and their parents also complained about inadequate space, which made it difficult for members of the same batch to sit together when the examination began. “It is a very disappointing situation and JAMB must correct these anomalies to avert recurrence during the main examination in April,” said an angry parent. “The purpose of this mock examination is for applicants to gain relevant experience and conduct a self‑assessment based on the outcomes.” (NAN)
